The rain has finally come. The grass has gone green again almost overnight and everything is moving after a summer of watching things sit still. The weeds very much included, growing fast in the warm September weather while your attention is on the harvest.

So the next few weeks are about staying ahead of them, and about using soft ground for the jobs that were impossible in August. Clearing spent beds, lifting roots, and getting garlic and overwintering crops in while there is still real warmth in the soil.
